All occurrences that are safety-related as well as those which may pose a hazard to the safety of air traffic at M-NAV have to be reported to the Safety Department. They are all investigated by the experts of the safety management units. The sole purpose of this investigation is to detect safety risks in the air traffic management system. This will allow us to mitigate them or to eliminate them by taking suitable countermeasures.

Safety-related occurrences are:

  • Aircraft accidents
  • Infringements of separation
  • Aircraft proximities (AIRPROX)
  • Runway incursions
  • Outage/failures of technical air navigation services facilities
  • Deviations of technical air navigation services facilities from the required state
  • Acts of unlawful interference in air traffic or against technical air navigation services facilities
  • Other occurrences posing a hazard to the safety of air traffic

In addition to the compulsory reporting system, M-NAV has a voluntary, confidential reporting system offering staff the opportunity to report any potential safety - realted problems in the air traffic management system to a central unit and, thus, to initiate a systematic analysis. The primary aim of the voluntary confidential reporting system is to detect any potential risks in day-to-day operations and systematically investigate them.
