The Aeronautical MET Service as a part of the ANS Services Provider "M-NAV" A.D. is a designated Aeronautical MET Authority in the Republic of Macedonia. It provides aeronautical MET services for international air navigation according to the national Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP) and ICAO Annex 15 (App.1, GEN 1.1).

One of the main objectives of aeronautical MET service for international air navigation is to contribute towards the safety, regularity and efficiency of international air navigation. This objective is achieved by supplying the users (operators, flight crew members, air traffic services units, search and rescue services units, airport managements and others concerned with the conduct of international air navigation) with the meteorological information necessary for the performance of their respective functions. The meteorological service provided to meet the needs of international air navigation is in accordance with the standards and recommended practices from ICAO Annex 3, other relevant WMO documents and according to the regional air navigation agreements.

The aeronautical MET service fully complies with the national and international requirements in respect of qualifications and training of MET personnel providing service for international air navigation (ICAO Annex 1 and WMO Publication No.49 and WMO doc. 258).

NEWS - ISO 9001:2008 certification process finished

The Aeronautical MET Department as part of Air Navigation Services Provider PCL “M-NAV” provides aeronautical met services for meeting the needs of international air navigation within Air Space of Republic of Macedonia. Thus achieving one of the main goals of aeronautical met service and enabling safe, regular and efficient international air navigation. The Aeronautical MET Department provides meteorological information for its users in compliance with the relevant ICAO and WMO international standards and recommendations, as well as in compliance with the regional air navigation agreements.

The last amendments of ICAO Annex 3 stipulate that by 14th  of November 2012, each country shall project and implement appropriately organised system of procedures, processes and resources required for quality management of met information provided to the users. The quality systems shall be certified by authorised entity in compliance with the international ISO 9000 standard.

That is why, within the framework of the common project on ISO certification of MET and AIS services, the MET Department was intensively working for the purpose of meeting the needs of ISO 9001:2008 certification of the aeronautical MET service. This process was very complex, appropriate process checks were performed; appropriate documentation, procedures and templates were completed as well as communication and cooperation with other services and departments within “M-NAV” was realised.

Checking of requirement compliance was carried out on 17th and 18th of October 2011 by the Company “Biro Veritas” from Republic of Slovenia. The checking ran smoothly without remarks concerning our aeronautical met services, but with compliments by the checkers.

In spite of our feelings of content for the succesfully performed certification and obtaining ISO 9001:2008 certificate for quality, the MET Department will continue to maintain the achieved level and the acquired quality certificate, as well as it will raise the quality level of the services provided. This means, following of relevant international standards and recommendations, especially ICAO, WMO and Eurcontrol standards and recommendations, following of the technological development and applying contemporary MET systems, communications and operational equipment. The afore-mentioned facts, the motivation and the professional skills of the employees represent guarantees for high quality of aeronautical MET services, thus meeting the requirements and the high standards of international air navigation.
